Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office?

Psychotherapy at the Atrium, 133 Franklin Corner Road, 2nd Floor, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, which is convenient to I-95/I-295, Route 1, Route 206, and Princeton Pike.

Why can't I contact you by email only?

First, I think personal contact is important.  I want to hear an actual voice when I first communicate with you.  Second, email does not meet my standards for security.

Are you accepting new patients?

You may go on a waiting list for psychotherapy, or wait a year or more for a neuropsychological evaluation.

What insurances do you accept?

I am a Medicare provider and participate in Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield/Horizon.

If I am not on your insurer's panel, if you have out of network benefits, I will provide a receipt you can submit to your insurance so that you can be reimbursed.  On occasion, a single-case agreement can be negotiated if you need to see a neuropsychologist.

Why should I come to you when I have so many psychologists and neuropsychologists to choose from?

For psychotherapy, I would be a good option for you if our personalities are compatible and if my approach to psychotherapy suits you, or if you or someone you love has a neurological disease and you would like to see a neuropsychologist who understands what you are dealing with.  This website is intended to help you see if you would like me to be your psychologist.  We would decide in our initial sessions whether we should work together or not.

For neuropsychological evaluations, you have many options.  I differ from many in several ways, although I also share each of these qualities with other neuropsychologists in and near Mercer County (although I do not know if anyone shares EVERY feature I offer):

  1. I am board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, a way you can assure that I am competent to practice neuropsychology.

  2. I work with you personally throughout the evaluation rather than using a student, someone who has not completed their training, or a technician.

  3. I spend a lot of time obtaining your history and learning what you are concerned about so I can tailor my recommendations to your unique needs.

  4. I routinely provide a written summary and recommendations at your feedback session.

  5. If psychotherapy would help you, we can transition to that after the evaluation if we both think we would work well together and I have psychotherapy openings.

What does board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology involve?

First, my training and credentials were reviewed to see if I met training standards for neuropsychology.  The next stage is a timed, multiple-choice evaluation without access to notes to verify adequate knowledge of clinical neuropsychology.  Then work samples are reviewed.  The final stage is a 3-hour oral examination covering ethics, the work samples, and analysis of a new case.

Why aren't you on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.?

I prefer personal interaction to social media.  (The telephone also protects your confidentiality better.)

Do you see children?

No, my experience is primarily with adults, although on occasion I see someone 16-17 years old.

Do you evaluate learning differences or attention-deficit disorder?

I do not specialize in these evaluations.

Do you provide forensic evaluations or Independent Medical/Psychological/Neuropsychological Examinations?

Yes, I do, and I have experience in depositions and both live and video recorded court testimony.
