Intrigued by the various ways humans experience and react to challenges, I majored in psychology and English when I left my native state of Florida to attend Cornell University. Through volunteering as a peer counselor there, I also learned I had strong empathy and that I could enjoy helping others; I also realized that I grow personally when people share with me.  I proceeded to earn my Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology in 1994 at the University of Florida,  one of the few training sites for clinical psychologists where graduate students train primarily within a major teaching hospital.  I first encountered neuropsychology at the University of Florida, and found I enjoyed the puzzle of the data and helping people understand and cope with the results.  I therefore decided to pursue the additional training in neuroanatomy, health psychology, neuropsychological assessment, and neurological diseases necessary to meet Houston Conference standards (https://www.nanonline.org/docs/PAIC/PDFs/HC%20Policy%20Statement.pdf) for training in Clinical Neuropsychology.  After internship at the Greater Hartford Internship Consortium, I was a post-doctoral resident at Norwalk Hospital's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department in Connecticut, remaining on staff there for several years before coming to New Jersey.  I founded the full-time outpatient neuropsychology service at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, and was their primary neuropsychologist for 19 years. Throughout my career, I have felt it is a privilege to provide both psychotherapy and neuropsychological evaluations, often combining the two by helping people with neurological conditions and their families cope with the consequences of their injury or disease and rebuild their lives.

In 2003, I became board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (https://abpp.org/About.aspx), following a multi-stage process of credential review, testing of neuropsychological and psychological knowledge, analysis of work samples, and oral examination.

I am a member of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, the American Psychological Association (including the divisions for clinical psychology, rehabilitation psychology, and neuropsychology), the International Neuropsychological Society, the Mercer County Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and the New Jersey Psychological Association,

In addition to my career as a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist, I love my family (including two dogs); experiencing nature through gardening, walking, hiking, biking, rafting/canoeing, and snorkeling; and continuing to expand my understanding of our human experience through books, theater, travel, and exploring history and art.
